  1. Napster categorizes The Avalanches as "classical electronic". This bugs me for some reason. Sometimes I think those early '70s white blues bands ruined the blues but Bob Hite's voice does have uncommon presence. Most big brother music was blues, jazz, hard rock, metal, even classical, but mine was funk. Upon its discovery I thought it was the real shit, serious, heavy, made everything I'd liked b/f seem lightweight, kids stuff. But this was based on the Ohio Players and One Nation Under a Groove, like that. Back to Oakland and Urban Renewal were my fave TOP albums.

  2. Thanks for the tunes. My playlists are too big and still somehow growing stale.

  3. That's actually Al "Blind Owl" Wilson singing the Canned Heat song. He and Bob "The Bear" Hite sort of tag-teamed their '60s blues vocal thing at either end of a spectrum. Also, I would not called the Avalanches "classical electronic" either but I don't know what I would. I don't envy those Napster labelers. I'm kind of fascinated by what they come up with in some cases.

  4. Oops. Have a tough time keeping my white blues singers straight. Blind Owl Wilson is a classic.
